Around the Corner – Bars Near Houston’s Rail

By  |

On a recent visit to District 7, I was intrigued by it’s next door neighbor, Around The Corner Bar. This cozy bungalow turned bar is a hidden gem in EaDo. In addition to having a stellar drink menu (cocktails, wine, and beer), they serve excellent bar bites.

Around the Corner BarI recently visited Around the Corner on a Saturday night for a friend’s birthday celebration. When you walk in, you get a warm, cozy feeling of being in someone’s house. And, if loud music isn’t your sort of thing, the music is low enough to have a conversation!

The real gem of this bar is it’s back patio. Outside you’ll find a spectacular view of Downtown Houston’s skyline.

I’ve mentioned before that I don’t go to bars much these days, but when I do, I’m reminded of all the things that make visiting a bar annoying: loud music, nowhere to sit, and a long line for drinks. Fortunately, I didn’t encounter any of these problems at Around the Corner. In addition to cozy seating inside, there was ample outdoor seating on their massive patio. You could order drinks inside or from a window out on the patio (so awesome!).

I can’t wait to go back.

Rail Station: Green/Purple Line – EaDo/Stadium Station

Good to Know: It’s a bit of a trek from the rail station to the bar, but totally worth it! They also have an exceptional food truck. See more about Etta’s Food Truck here.
