Midtown Barbecue – Restaurants Near Houston’s Rail

By  |

We visited Midtown Barbecue on a Saturday evening, and were in the company of many people. More of a sports bar than restaurant, football was blaring on the many TVs, and even though I’m not a huge football fan, I didn’t mind. Probably because the bbq was that good!

Once inside, there were lots of tables, including high top bar tables and booths. And, even though I assumed that there wouldn’t be high chairs, there were! This restaurant was packed and you could definitely tell the waiters were slammed, but in spite of being busy, our waiters were as gracious as they could be, even comping some of our beverages because the kitchen was backed up.

The food was spot on. Houston has a lot of barbecue options, and this place rivals any of the best options in Houston. I had a loaded baked potato, which included brisket and mac -n-cheese as a topping. My husband had a brisket sandwich. One of our friends mentioned that they have delicious ribs, but unfortunately they were out of ribs that night. While they didn’t have a dedicated kids menu, you could order smaller sides, so we ordered mac-n-cheese for our daughter. Midtown Barbecue Houston

The walk from the rail station to the restaurant was short and pleasant. We’ll definitely be going back.

Address: 2708 Bagby Street, 77006

Rail Station: Red Line – McGowen

Good to Know: I was surprised to find a parking lot when we approached, because so many midtown restaurants lack parking.
